Even not knowing much about survival it should have been very obious the mine wasn't active. The dude even told him twice. Like he finds the one guy who speaks English, but doesn't even listen to him. Like even if it were pressure sensitive, if you've ever stepped on a scale you know any movement can shift your weight from that scale, and that guy moved around a lot for someone stuck in place. Even if people did come to help him what would they do? Defuse the bomb?
