Russian spy aircraft violates Swedish air area

A Russian reconnaissance plane briefly violated Sweden’s airspace on Friday, Swedish defense officials mentioned on Saturday, as the Scandinavian nation ponders a bid for NATO membership after Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
“A Russian AN-30 propeller airplane violated Swedish airspace on Friday evening,” the Swedish defense ministry said in a statement, including that its teams had followed the incident and photographed it.
The ministry mentioned the plane was flying east of Bornholm, a Danish island within the Baltic, before it headed toward Swedish territory.
“It is completely unacceptable to violate Swedish airspace,” public tv SVT quoted Protection Minister Peter Hultqvist as saying.
“This motion is unprofessional and given the general safety situation very inappropriate. Swedish sovereignty should all the time be respected.”
