A California district attorney declined to file fees Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police reviews and movies of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no prices be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery towards another passenger on an airplane while ready at the terminal previous to departure," Wagstaffe said in an announcement.

"Our choice is that we are going to not file any fees in opposition to Mr. Tyson based mostly on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the victim main as much as the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of both the sufferer and Mr. Tyson that no prices be filed on this case," Wagstaffe stated.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video showed Tyson, 55, appearing to attempt to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the particular person was harassing Tyson. The video did not show what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file expenses by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and law enforcement businesses "for his or her careful, diligent, and professional work."
