A California district lawyer declined to file fees Tuesday against former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Lawyer Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police experiences and videos of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no charges be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Lawyer’s Workplace concluded its assessment of the case involving Mike Tyson on the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he committed a misdemeanor battery against another passenger on an airplane whereas ready at the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe said in an announcement.

"Our resolution is that we are going to not file any expenses against Mr. Tyson based mostly on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embody the conduct of the victim main as much as the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no charges be filed in this case," Wagstaffe said.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, showing to try to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the individual was harassing Tyson. The video didn't present what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file costs by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and regulation enforcement businesses "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
