Speaking in the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler mentioned, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead until I really feel higher about the path of our nation."

"I'm not okay with the state of this nation. I want I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I may have demonstrated what I discovered from my dad, that while you're dissatisfied with your nation, you let it be known through protest. The home of the brave should encourage this."

"In the last 10 days, we have had aged Black individuals killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we have now youngsters murdered at college," Kerr instructed reporters firstly of the press conference.
"When are we going to do something? I'm drained. I am so tired of getting up here and offering condolences to the devastated families which can be out there ... I am bored with the moments of silence. Sufficient."
