Speaking in the dugout of the Great American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler stated, "I do not plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead till I feel higher about the direction of our country."
In a weblog post, Kapler questioned whether the country's leadership is dedicated to representing its individuals's finest interests and whether the US is truly "the land of the free and the house of the courageous.""We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her kids. They blocked mother and father making an attempt to prepare to charge in to cease the shooter, including a father who realized his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians decide that the lobbyist and gun industries are more necessary than our kids's freedom to go to highschool without having bulletproof backpacks and energetic shooter drills," Kapler wrote.
Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he referred to as "the lack of delivery of the promise of what our national anthem represents."
"I am not okay with the state of this country. I want I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I realized from my dad, that if you're dissatisfied together with your country, you let or not it's known by means of protest. The home of the courageous ought to encourage this."
Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger action against gun violence in america.Kerr refused to talk about basketball ahead of Recreation 4 of the Warriors' series in opposition to the Dallas Mavericks, as a substitute raising his voice as he railed against gun violence in the wake of Tuesday's shooting.
"In the final 10 days, we have had aged Black folks killed in a supermarket in Buffalo, we have had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we've got youngsters murdered at school," Kerr informed reporters in the beginning of the press conference.
"When are we going to do one thing? I'm drained. I am so uninterested in getting up right here and providing condolences to the devastated households which can be on the market ... I am tired of the moments of silence. Sufficient."
