Apple has discontinued the iPod, 20 years after it was launched.
The US tech large mentioned its iconic music participant has been changed by different devices, making the iPod redundant.
Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice-president of worldwide marketing, mentioned: "In the present day, the spirit of iPod lives on.
"We've integrated an unimaginable music experience across all of our merchandise, from the iPhone to the Apple Watch to HomePod mini, and across Mac, iPad, and Apple TV.
"And Apple Music delivers industry-leading sound quality with help for spatial audio - there isn't any higher way to take pleasure in, uncover, and experience music."
In October 2001, Steve Jobs debuted the unique iPod and it was the first MP3 player that would maintain 1,000 songs and had a 10-hour battery life.
"With iPod, Apple has invented an entire new class of digital music player that allows you to put your entire music collection in your pocket and hearken to it wherever you go," he mentioned on the time.
"With iPod, listening to music won't ever be the identical again."
Related MP3 players released by Microsoft and Sony didn't have the same success as the iPod.
Apple has released five variations of its music player - the Traditional, Touch, Shuffle, Mini and Nano.
The company has been slowly killing its iPod range in recent times, with cell phone technology enabling customers to take heed to music companies on their phones.
In 2014, the basic click on wheel model was discontinued, and the Shuffle and Nano had been killed off three years later.
The seventh-generation iPod touch was the only model nonetheless on sale today.
