BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to participate in a mass school taking pictures that could have included a bombing at Berkeley Excessive College, police say. 

The teen was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Division mentioned in a press release. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no school that day. 

The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing destructive system materials and threatening to commit a crime which is able to end in loss of life or nice bodily injury.

Police stated they obtained a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a taking pictures that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence. 

Police did not say if the teen was a scholar at Berkeley Excessive College.

Upon executing the search warrant, police mentioned they found elements to explosives and assault rifles, a number of knives, and electronic items that might be used to create extra weapons. 

At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teenager's arrest.

"Faculty security remains a high precedence for the department," police mentioned in an announcement. 

Particulars on whom the teen was attempting to recruit weren't disclosed. Police stated this case remains beneath investigation. 

Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens instructed the college's neighborhood that the district was in close contact with police during this investigation. 

After police confiscated the teen's weapon parts, the district relied on police experience to evaluate any potential ongoing threat to its colleges. The district communicated with police on the scholar's whereabouts. 

"As added precautions during this era, we alerted our administrative and safety staff about this investigation and, as is our customary practice, maintained close contact with our BPD College Useful resource Officer on the Berkeley Excessive Faculty campus," Stephens wrote. "Throughout the investigation period, we have been assured that this particular person didn't pose an instantaneous threat to the Berkeley Excessive School community."

The district is conducting their own investigation on this matter. 

The district might pursue disciplinary motion in opposition to the scholar. 

In addition, a city hall assembly titled: 'Easy methods to Speak to Youngsters About Faculty Violence' supplied by Alameda County Workplace of Training is scheduled for Wednesday at 6 p.m.
