BERKELEY, Calif. - A 16-year-old boy was arrested after recruiting others to take part in a mass faculty taking pictures that could have included a bombing at Berkeley High College, police say. 

The teenager was arrested Monday, when he turned himself in to police, Berkeley Police Department stated in a press launch. Monday was Memorial Day and there was no faculty that day. 

The boy was arrested on suspicion of possessing damaging machine supplies and threatening to commit against the law which will lead to demise or great bodily harm.

Police stated they obtained a tip on Saturday that the boy was recruiting others in plans of a taking pictures that included explosives. Following the tip, police obtained and executed a search warrant for a residence. 

Police did not say if the teenager was a student at Berkeley High College.

Upon executing the search warrant, police stated they found parts to explosives and assault rifles, several knives, and electronic gadgets that may very well be used to create additional weapons. 

At that point, a warrant was obtained for the teen's arrest.

"College safety remains a excessive priority for the division," police stated in a statement. 

Particulars on whom the teenager was attempting to recruit were not disclosed. Police said this case stays below investigation. 

Berkeley Unified Supt. Brent Stephens instructed the college's community that the district was in close contact with police during this investigation. 

After police confiscated the teenager's weapon parts, the district relied on police expertise to evaluate any potential ongoing danger to its faculties. The district communicated with police on the scholar's whereabouts. 

"As added precautions throughout this era, we alerted our administrative and security staff about this investigation and, as is our customary follow, maintained shut contact with our BPD College Useful resource Officer on the Berkeley Excessive Faculty campus," Stephens wrote. "All through the investigation period, we were assured that this particular person didn't pose a direct menace to the Berkeley Excessive Faculty group."

The district is conducting their very own investigation on this matter. 

The district might pursue disciplinary motion in opposition to the scholar.
